Esther Movie

Hey, so you all should go watch the movie. It is coming out October 13th and this time it looks for sure. However, I don't think it will be playing in Wenatchee but it will be playing in Yakima--that's not too bad of a drive (Yakima Cinemas: 1305 North 16th Avenue, Yakima, WA), if what the information online tells me I have to go all the way to Alabama to watch the movie. I don't think that is going to h-happen; it's like 600 miles away! You can click on the link on the right hand side of the screen that says "Queen Esther Movie" for more information.

Another update :)

Well, it turns out that the conference has given us a group discount, so everybody only has to pay $20 each!!! Yeah, I know. SOOOO, be expecting another $5 refund sometime.

And, for everybody's information, REVIVE youth group has raised (with much help from the church as a whole and with God's hand of grace guiding us) over $800! Great work, guys!

Also, happy birthday to Nessy! He turned 25 yesterday, which was June 5th.

Sons and Daughters Update

Well, I will explain here some changes concerning the Sons and Daughters Conference and other information that you and/or your parents might like to know. Most of the following information is from the Sons and Daughters site.

Price:
They have dropped registration price from $30 to $25 per person, so parents who have already payed will be receiving a $5 refund per joven registered.

Location:
Benson High School auditorium
546 NE 12th Avenue
Portland, Oregon

Schedule:

Friday, June 23rd

• 6:00-6:45 pm - Registration
• 7:00 pm - First session

Saturday, June 24th

• 10:00 am - 12:30 pm - Morning session
• 12:30 - Lunch break
• 2:00-5:00 pm - Afternoon session
• 5:00 pm - Dinner break
• 7:00 pm - Evening session

So that's all I have as far as information goes right now. EVERYBODY that is going to attend the conference needs to be registered and payed for by this Sunday, May 28th. We will be registering as a group next week in order to secure our seats and make hotel reservations. If you have any issues, talk to Dahlia, Nessy, or the pastor.

Las mañanitas que cantaba el rey David ...

Yes, we will be serenading the mothers of the church, so get your pencil and paper and write this down: Saturday, May 13th (that's THIS Saturday) at 9:00 PM. Meet at the church! Got it? Okay! I hope everyone can make it! Come ready for cold weather and LOTS of singing! We want to give our moms the best this year, right? May God bless you all!

Moving up the Thermometer

Today is May 1st. Maybe a bunch of you out there are boycotting? I am.

But, anyway, REVIVE youth group's fundraising is now a couple bucks over $400. We need to keep at it; who knows - maybe we'll earn so much money that we can pass some money around to the parents for a discount. I'm sure they would appreciate that. But right now we're focusing on making it to our $500 goal.

Which reminds me that, if you are going to attend the Sons and Daughters conference on June 23rd and 24th, you need to sign up with Dahlia and pay $30 as soon as possible. I think the pastor said he would like everyone signed up and paid for by this Friday, May 5th.

Also, don't forget to turn in your letter of intent stating in about 100 words why you want to attend the conference. And feel free to invite friends, but remember that they need to get $30 in to Dahlia by Friday, also.

I encourage everyone to attend the conference. It should be a blessing to us all. Don't let the price be an issue, either; if you think it is, just talk to Dahlia, and we'll work something out.

Resurrection Day picnic

Well, here are a few shots from the prestigious Hydro Park, where the church celebrated Jesus' resurrection with a picnic and some games. For the sake of Nessy, Darci, Armando, and other people who aren't around right now, I'll include a brief description of each picture.

Wet, rainy, car-washing fun

Oh, happy day...

I am here to report that the car wash was a success! We washed cars from about 9 a.m. until around 1:30-ish. We earned about $177, which along with our other mini fundraisers, puts us at 3/5 of the way to our goal of $500. I'll let you do the math.

Anyway, I suppose y'all would like to see some pictures of the event, so I won't disappoint you. -->

Actually, my computer is acting up right now, so I won't be able to post any pictures at the moment. Keep checking back, though ... maybe tomorrow ...

Car Wash!

The youth car wash will take place this Saturday, April 15th. We're meeting at Albertson's at 7:30 a.m. Bring money for lunch or pack your own lunch. Also, please remember to bring what you promised to:

• Ivory, Dahlia: Bath towels, hose, buckets, and brush
• Diana, Gonzalo: Bath towels and hose
• Victor: Bath towels and buckets
• Eunice, Isaac: special drying towel
• Dorian: Sponges and hose
• Carlos: Buckets
• Grace: Brush

If you want to bring something else or if you missed the meeting, please bring whatever you can to help! Also remember to mark items you bring with your name so they can be returned to you after the car wash.

Next, please bring whatever you can to this Wednesday's bake sale. A special reminder to Diana, Dahlia, and Victor, who already promised to contribute. I am very excited for all of the events we have planned, and I hope all of you are, also! Again, keep checking back here for updates, and rejoice! God loves you!

April Update

Hola, Jovenes! I would just like to update you all on the happenings within our group:

First of all, last night the girls had a sleepover at Deborah's house. I'm sorry that I couldn't get any pictures :( but we did have fun eating pizza and watching home videos of YOU out there when you were a baby! The attendance was 5, including Deborah. Come on, girls!!! Get off that rear end!! And, as for the guys, sorry you weren't included!

Next, you all know about the Sons and Daughters Conference by now, I'm sure. Well, if you want to go, the time has come to get moving and get active! Our goal is to raise at least $500, which would cover the hotel and gas costs only. Think we can do it? Be listening for meetings concerning the following:

CAR WASH: Saturday, April 15th at Albertson's.

YARD SALE: Sometime in April ...

JOVENES WEDNESDAYS: The next jovenes service will be on April 12th. This can provide us with a great opportunity to ask the congregation for financial help.

Also, please remember to fill out and turn in to Dahlia your "Letter of Intent" if you want to go to the conference.

Desafortunadamente, it looks like the Queen Esther movie has been bumped back yet again. This time the projected release is September 2006. That is another 6 months. Let the waiting continue...
